Military families - PLEASE protect your loved ones personal information.

PLEASE REPOST THIS BULLETIN it is critical.
Please note that specific information and keywords are being omitted and deleted from this bulletin posting for security purposes. DO NOT edit this message. Those whom this bulletin affects at any level I am certain will have the ability to read between the lines here. IF in doubt, refer to the point of being overly-cautious.
Reports are coming out of "countries" that are currently housing our US MILITARY. In short, the end result is that "units, platoons, battalions, etc", are now issuing "bans on specific forms of communications available such as YOUR space, the big yellow smiley face, the "other" big instant messenger company, "ETC"... the reason is that "nosey people", have managed to corrupt our network systems. These people are inplace internally, both physically, geographically and over the vast grid of this complex internet system we have across the USA.
Reports are additionally stating much of what we already know but many have ignored. Anyone wearing a "uniform", must immediately look over their internet profiles to ensure the information does not contain any of the following: information clearly stating they are "not home", information indicating the name of their FOB, CAMP, or foreign CITY etc. Any icons or tickers that indicate how long they have not "been home" or when they will "be home" need to be removed. Info the "uniforms" have listing their instant messenger addresses on how to contact them etc.. PICTURES that show a geographically identifable locale or landmark while they "away from home" must be removed from their sites.
And most importantly is the constant and rampage leaving of comments within their profiles that speak to ..."one month and i get to come home and get drunk "or "Baby, I love you, six more weeks and we will be together"...these messages are dated and TIME stamped people. AND THIS IS TO include any comments or messages left by those stateside asking things like ..."honey, what date are you leaving?" or..."two more weeks Johnny and I will be wrapped in your arms" ...etc...and to include wives, families and significant others who openly post the city they are from.
Come on girls, its not hard to figure out what unit or battalion your man is with when you all have the damn city you are living in added with shit like, "i love my marine, or I love my soldier", easy to figure out if its Army or Marine or Navy , hello are we getting through to you yet? Do not post their pics showing them in uniform with their last name, do not post pics they sent to you privately of pics taken "Away from home", If in doubt, do not post it. Yes we are giving you permission to lie about your city or state. I know GOD will forgive you for this. If they are detected individually or as a unit and come under attack, as a result of info you refused to delete, I wont forgive you.
EVERYONE here or on other internet sites needs to stop being so liberal with the talks left in the open forum. The smallest information is Traceable and trackable. If you start to add all this information up, its not too damn difficult to figure out where or what unit or battalion is, how many there are, when they left, when they are due back, etc...such and such, or when they are removing themselves from the "city on task" etc.
I've said enough, the rest of you are expected to figure this out, NO do not bother with the posting of bulletins citing the OPSEC shit, quit gettin stuck on big mil acronyms. If you cannot do more than cut and paste repetitious shit, then sit down and shut the hell up.
Just do what you all can, use your damn heads, the quieter we are about this, the better, but we need all of you to help, because the bottom line is , the security and safety of those ensuring we all sleep etc is at risk and this is nothing to turn your back on, the outcome is blatantly obvious.
Think about it, many of our troops use this as their only form of communication to their loved ones. If that is taken away, everyone suffers, mostly our troops.

| | NEWS RELEASE from the United States Department of Defense
No. 139-03 (703)697-5131(media) IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 22, 2003 (703)428-0711(public/industry)
TROOP SUPPORT MAIL POLICY STRESSED
To bolster force protection, the general public is urged not to send unsolicited mail, care packages or donations to service members forward deployed unless you are a family member, loved one or personal friend.
On Oct. 30, 2002, the Department of Defense (DoD) suspended the "Operation Dear Abby" and "Any Servicemember" mail programs due to force protection concerns. Although these programs provide an excellent means of support to friends and loved ones stationed overseas, they also provide an avenue to introduce hazardous substances or materials into the mail system from unknown sources. Unsolicited mail, packages and donations from organizations and individuals also compete for limited airlift space used to transport supplies, war-fighting materiel and mail from family and loved ones.
Recently, DoD has become aware of organizations and individuals who continue to support some form of the "Any Servicemember" program by using the names and addresses of individual servicemembers and unit addresses. These programs are usually supported by well-intentioned, thoughtful and patriotic groups who are simply unaware of the new risks facing deployed military forces. Some individuals and groups publicize the names and addresses of service members, ships or units on Web sites, with good intentions. The result, however, is a potential danger to the troops they wish to support.
DoD cannot support creative and well-intentioned efforts that defeat force protection measures, but can instead recommend alternatives to mail and donation programs. To show support to troops overseas, the following are recommended:
* Log on to the following Web sites to show support, to include greeting cards, virtual Thank You cards and calling card donations to help troops stay in contact with loved ones:
http://www.defendamerica.mil/support_troops.html
http://www.usocares.org
http://www.army.mil/operations/iraq/faq.html
* Visit Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals and nursing homes. Volunteer your services to honor veterans who served in past conflicts.
Mail from family members and loved ones has always been encouraged and the military mail system will continue to work hard to get that mail to servicemembers overseas.

SECURITY NOTICE FROM NAVYSISTERS.COM - DO NOT answer any questions regarding the whereabouts or duties of your loved one without giving your answers considerable thought. While most inquiries will come from those who are truly well-intentioned and concerned about your family, it is imperative that you not divulge any information that might compromise the security of your service member, or the safety of your family.
- DO NOT use any third party service that promises rapid delivery of messages or immediate contact with your forward deployed loved one. There are many individuals who are representing themselves as organizations that are dedicated to being helpful to military families. However, you should be aware that any organization asking for detailed information such as family social security numbers, names and addresses, etc. is probably not legitimate. As Americans, our society generally trusts those who appear to be compassionate and caring. However, it is the nature of terrorists to prey upon innocent and vulnerable people. Please remember that the enemies who are poised to do the greatest harm to our troops are cowardly and evil. If the Iraqi Republican Guard will use their own citizens, including children as human shields, don't you think they'd use you? PLEASE do not give any family information to these types of groups. If you require urgent notification of your deployed family member, please contact their command directly or the American Red Cross.
